4 SHEEPMEAT COUNCIL OF AUSTRALIA ANNUAL MUSTER 2012 THE COUNCIL Kate Joseph SCA Director VICTORIA Alexander MacLachlan SCA Director SOUTH AUSTRALIA Mark Murphy SCA Director QUEENSLAND JEFF runs a successful Border Leicester Stud and has been selling rams to regular clients for over 30 years. With a keen interest in genetics he became a registered SAMM stud in 2003 and has expanded quickly to meet market requirements using embryo transfer and artificial insemination programmes. A strong advocate of NLIS, his property is Flockcare accredited. MiCHAEL is a mixed broad acre farmer located in the big red-gum country at Harrow, Western Victoria. The property runs a 30% crop rotation, combined with a sheep, wool and lamb business along-side a cattle breeding enterprise. Michael places an emphasis on developing innovative farm focused outcomes, including trial work involving alternatives to mulesing and being the host site for a sire evaluation program. ALExANDER is a sheepmeat producer and Company Director for his family farming enterprises, which incorporates a self replacing merino flock, prime lamb operation and a Poll Hereford herd across pastoral and high-rain fall properties in South Australia. Alexander is a long-standing member of South Australian Farmers' Federation. He has served on the Board since 2008. MARK is a dual-purpose sheepmeat producer from Goondiwindi who has been on the AgForce Sheep and Wool Board for three years. Mark has extensive experience in the sheep industry as a producer, sheep classer and stud master. Mark is the Vice President of AgForce Sheep and Wool Committee and is currently a member of the Queensland 'Leading Sheep' Advisory Panel. Mark became a Director of the Council in 2010. KATE owns and manages a specialist prime lamb operation located at Tyrendarra in South-West Victoria. Kate has been Treasurer and Chair of the Sheepmeat Committee within Victorian Farmers' Federation, which led to her nomination in 2003 to Sheepmeat Council. Kate is also currently a Director on the Sheep Industry CRC Board. Jeff Murray SCA Director WESTERN AUSTRALIA Michael Craig SCA Director VICTORIA JAMES is a grazier from Guyra, NSW and runs a self replacing 16 micron dual purpose Merino flock. James has an honours degree in Veterinary Science and has a particular interest in ovine reproduction. He has been actively involved in NSW Farmers' Association and currently represents New England on the Executive Council. James became a Director of the Council in July 2010.
